"Ain't I a woman-" Sojourner Truth springs to mind. It's NOT ok to stand and do nothing! It's even more, NOT ok to get onto social media and vilify the woman.
"What do you want us to do?" cried so many!
ANYTHING, but NOTHING!
ANYTHING, but standing there, not frozen, but acting like she DESERVED it.
I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt, that men of ALL races would have acted differently if she was cute, petite, and with a sweet-sounding voice.
To those men trying to justify that they did not intervene because they have intervened in domestic situations before only to see the victim return to the abuser, please sit down and school yourselves as to why a victim does this so you can gain insight into the complicated reasons.
Remember, we are all meant to help those who need us, without enquiring if they are worthy. Our collective humanity deems them worthy.
I'm sad, but not surprised that those failing to intervene have the loudest mouths. Is this in the hope of trying to justify their non-action? So they can sleep better at night?
Thank you for the great article, Rosalyn Morris. 🙏🏾
